Reston, VA (March 9, 2020) – The Air Force AFWERX program for technical innovation awarded OM Group a Phase I contract for the next generation of business process workflow automation.
“Our Research & Development Team’s Robotic Operations Center (ROC) is solving the limitations of current software automation that is blind to unstructured data,” said OM Group Chief Technology Officer, Mahesh Srinivasan.
OM Group VP and COO Sangita Subramanian said, “Our DoD clients have handwritten forms and complex approval processes that involve tedious work validating data in multiple legacy systems. It’s manual and prone to error. Those delays cost money and they slow down decision-making for service men and women. I challenged our ROC to see how automation can help.”
OM Group’s solution converges the abilities of automation with innovative technologies that can “see” and understand documents and data in context - much like humans - introducing cognitive intelligence to document processing. The solution will benefit Air Force offices with processes burdened by forms that require manual data entry, validation, and approval processes. Routine, repetitive tasks are handled automatically, while intelligent bots can deliver more sophisticated information to staff to expedite decision-making.
“Intelligent bots will radically increase the sophistication of business processes the Air Force can automate,” explained Mahesh. “We are honored to bring our research to the AFWERX innovation program.” Intelligent Process Automation (IPA) is this next level of in business process workflow automation, with the capability to understand documents, recognize patterns, predict actions, and self-improve over time to expedite decision-making and automate mundane tasks.
